Possum Saloon Art Show
If you're in LA, you should check out the Downtown Art Walk on Thursday (the 10th). An "art walk" sounds lame, I know, but supposedly it's pretty cool, and some friends of mine have asked me to contribute art to a show they're organizing as part of the art walk. Here's the flyer:

There will be art and music and free wine, it should be a good time. I'll be showing a handful of prints from Sketchblog (which will be for sale all nice and framed), and if I can get my new print done in time, I might debut it there.
And just for the sake of including some art in this post, here's an illustration I'd all but forgotten about, that I did five years ago for an article in a remarkably unfunny humor magazine in New York. I don't remember what the article was about - something about a professor losing his mind - but the image turned out pretty good:

Have a good time! =D
Hmm, L.A. + art walk + booze?
Why do I see the possibility of a future blog about slightly tipsy art snobs???
Being that people take them selves WAY TOO seriously out here in Wisconsin with that kind of stuff, I can't even imagine the possibilities for people to act like total shit bags out there.
Or perhaps that is just a Midwestern stereotype of Southern California?
Any who,
Looking forward to the new print being posted!
=D
Cheers!
Come up to Seattle and do this!
Amazing sketch!
The lines in his face really show his insanity!
Have a great time at the artwalk. I'm sure your sketches are going to be a hit!
:)
really awesome! congratulations!
I didn't see any completely insane douches, except around the block at a different show. Course, maybe I wasn't looking. At least the Possum Saloon felt like an underground art show, where they're 'too cool' to be snobbish. Or something.
It was a good show, great venue, nice people from what I saw. If I had money I might've bought something.
Yeah, there wasn't a whole lot of snobbery going on last night - you're right, the Possum Saloon show in particular had a bit more underground feel, I suppose because it was. That old abandoned theater made a pretty cool makeshift gallery, though. In general the whole art walk thing was a lot busier and more fun than I thought it would be, I had a great time. It was nice meeting some of you there. I wish I'd gotten my new print done, but it's taking a ridiculous amount of time to finish. Hopefully early next week I'll have it up here...
*pout*
Ye got my thesis advisor's glasses HALF WRONG!
